Divorces can be opposed or contested, but nothing prevents the spouse who wants a divorce from ultimately getting one. You may have disputes over issues that the court has jurisdiction over in your divorce, such as property, support matters, or issues related to your children. While these matters can be contested, and often are, if one spouse wants a divorce and has met the required 12-month waiting period or has fault-based grounds, there is nothing in the law that allows the other spouse to stop the divorce from being granted.
